At Hangzhou International School, we believe that the learning that happens outside the classroom is just as vital as the learning that happens within it. Our Athletics and Activities programs play an important role in the HIS Mission: providing international learners with opportunities to pursue academic and personal excellence within a caring community.
At HIS, our goal is to provide every student with meaningful experiences, allowing them to discover new interests, hone their skills, and find their own unique path to personal success. Participation in a wide range of activities supports students to develop their character and find opportunities for leadership and personal achievement.
A Comprehensive Program of Excellence
Whether a student is an aspiring athlete, a creative artist, or a future engineer, the HIS "Gold Dragon" spirit is found in every corner of our campus. Our program is structured across several key pillars:

Athletics: With 42 teams across 12 sports, our student-athletes compete at the highest levels. We are proud members of five major conferences (HISAC, ACAMIS, SISAC, SCISAC, and ISNAC) providing multiple opportunities for domestic and international travel and competition.
- Aquatics: Our highly competitive swim team is a cornerstone of our athletic identity, supported by a year-round program that develops swimmers from their first competitive experiences in the "Rainbow Squad" to SISAC and ACAMIS Championships.
- The Arts: Creativity thrives here. From spectacular Upper and Lower School musicals to compelling and professional-grade theatre productions, our students showcase immense talent. With our Modern Rock Band, Cheer squad, and our annual Film Festival, students have high-level platforms to showcase their artistic vision.
- Leadership & Innovation: We prepare students for the future through regionally acclaimed programs like West Lake Model United Nations (MUN), Robotics, STEM clubs, and various student-led Service and Social initiatives.

- Two double-court gymnasia with spectator seating.
- A 25m, 6-lane competition swimming pool.
- A full-size artificial turf soccer field with professional floodlights.
- Specialized studios for Dance, Yoga, and Taekwondo.
- A 20m indoor Bouldering Wall and a fully equipped Fitness Centre.
- State-of-the-art performance spaces for theatre and music.
- Direct access to the beautiful off-road running trails, mountains, rivers, and lakes adjacent to our campus.
