NOTICE BOARD
New Training Phase
Heading into SSL Championships, we will head back into a refining stage of training - focusing on technique and skills to tighten everything up before Champs. Whilst the load will be lighter, please ensure swimmers still bring water bottles to every training session in order to stay hydrated and healthy.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Phase: Preparing to Compete
Focus: This group refines and builds upon the four strokes with more advanced skills and efficiency techniques. There is a strong emphasis on stroke mechanics and refining competition skills with the addition of interval training and conditioning. Intermediate dry land routines are incorporated to increase coordination and strength. The recommended age for this group is 9-11 years. Please see our team goals here.
Coaches: Coach West, Coach Meg, Coach Alan
Equipment: Swimmers must have a pair of fins (short, not scuba fins), a kickboard and a water bottle. A snorkel is encouraged but not required.
Training schedule: Minimum attendance is 2 times per week year-round at HIS and during the ACAMIS season 3 per week at HIS, if selected. Additional morning sessions are available during competition season: SSL2 to ACAMIS

Swimmer Expectations:

Attend as many sessions as possible, up to 100% of the sessions you signed up for (absent due to sickness, injury or other reasons; please send an email to your primary coach).

The clear understanding of pool safety rules, in and out of the water.

The clear understanding of locker room rules: My body, my rules.

Become a responsible swimmer. At training, always have the following kit: a swimming suit, swimming cap, goggles, water bottle, towel, and flip-flops.

Able to remain independent and accountable within the changing rooms without adult supervision and help.

Try to attend the competitions recommended for your team.

Be positive; refrain from talking negatively about any swimmer, team, or coach.

Do your best to model good decision-making and behaviour in the pool, locker rooms, and class.

Learn to give respect and get respect.

STRICT NO-BULLYING POLICY. Any matters arising from bullying shall be addressed promptly and thoughtfully. Our pool is where we create dreams, set goals, build confidence and work towards all things that will better our lives now and in the future.
