The West Lake MUN conference was founded in 2006 and is hosted by Hangzhou International School. The conference was founded in order to provide students, new to the Model United Nations, with an introduction to the principles and practices of the MUN program. This conference is still designed for that purpose but with the understanding that a certain percentage of the delegates may be returning for the second or third time and looking for new challenges. Therefore, the conferences are at a moderately challenging level. West Lake MUN involves international students as well as Chinese students, and is open to both middle and high school students (ages 12 to 18).
Hi everyone, Welcome to West Lake Model United Nations 2019! My name is Suhani Sikri and I am currently a junior at Hangzhou International School. I am honoured to be serving as your Secretary General for the 13thannual West Lake MUN session. I have spent five unforgettable years in MUN, and attended 8 conferences, either as a delegate, chair, or part of the secretariat. With every conference, my view of the world expanded, my knowledge increased, and I attempted to strive for further excellence in providing better solutions. Each year, my passion for MUN grows and I hope to see that in the delegates the attend West Lake this year. The secretariat and I would like to provide you all with a conference, in which you can express your passion, gain further knowledge, and create memories that you can store forever.
Hello Everyone! My name is Aanvi Chadha and I am honored to be serving as the Deputy Secretary General of Westlake Model United Nation 2019. I am a sophomore at Hangzhou international school and have been a part of our MUN Secretariat for 4 years now, this will also be my 5th Westlake conference and I am looking forward to another amazing experience.
This year the theme is “Time is ticking” and it’s centralized around the idea of climate change. We only have one Earth and its time we start taking action to keep it healthy because within a matter of time, we won’t have a home anymore if we continue to live the way we do.
Westlake has always been a very special conference to me because it’s an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone, learn and thrive. From Student officers to delegates, you always come back with new knowledge and memories to share. See you all in November!
