As defined by ACAMIS, social innovation at the conference is “about making a meaningful difference in the world by designing and taking action on ideas that improve lives and strengthen communities” – not through profit-driven business models, but through innovative service aimed at real-world environmental, social, and community challenges. For student leaders from Hangzhou International School (HIS), that challenge took them 200 kilometers north to UWC Changshu

Alum Haru Sukegawa joined Hangzhou International School (HIS) in 2016 for 9^th grade, remaining until she graduated with the Class of 2020. While at HIS, Haru participated greatly in the arts, focusing on creativity and improving her skills. Her time herealso taught her how to be more open as a person, and how meaningful the connections you forge with teachers and classmates can be.

Alum Alessandro Livio attended Hangzhou International School (HIS) from 2007 until graduation in 2020. During his 13 years at HIS, Alessandro had many fun experiences, remembering China Trips fondly, as well as the sports teams and business club. HIS taught Alessandro the importance of teamwork and building strong relationships.

At Hangzhou International School (HIS), excellence is measured not only by academic achievement, but by the care, preparedness, and responsibility shown across the community. Creating a safe environment where students and staff can thrive requires more than policies – it requires a community that is ready to act when it matters most. This commitment was evident during two First Aid, CPR, and AED certification training sessions held on 23 February and 13 March 2026 as part of the school’s Professional Development (PD) In‑service Days. 

From 2–6 March 2026, the Lower School community at Hangzhou International School came together to celebrate its very first Cultural Sports Day, inspired by the rich traditions of the Scottish Highland Games. Throughout the week, students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 took part in a vibrant program of activities designed to promote movement, teamwork, and cultural understanding. 

Hangzhou International School (HIS) students had their best Model United Nations (MUN) conference in school history while attending NISMUN 2026 at Nanjing International School (NIS) from 6 to 8 March 2026.

At Hangzhou International School, Early Years 1 and 2 mark the start of a child's educational journey, introducing our youngest students to the school environment. In EY, children develop essential skills such as social interaction, fine motor control, communication, and attention span while learning about school dynamics and routines.

Walking around Hangzhou international School with a camera, the lens becomes much more than glass and metal – it is a bridge between moments, a quiet keeper of the stories unfolding all around. Every video crafted, every interview done, every story shared becomes a chance to cast light on the singular experiences of those within our HIS community. Through these narratives, I watch connections take root, diversity bloom in celebration, and the school’s reach across the world deepen.

The Delegate Mentor Committee, or DMC, is a part of Hangzhou International School's Model United Nations (MUN) Secretariat. In the DMC, we mentor middle and high school delegates, ranging from beginners to advanced.

Although the DMC is a new division of the HIS MUN Secretariat, established in the spring of 2025, it has blossomed, becoming an opportunity for growth, collaboration, and leadership within HIS’s MUN community.

Robotics at Hangzhou International School (HIS) is relatively new, with just three years of the High School robotics program and two years of Middle School at HIS. 

However, our recent results at both the Regional and National championships underline a clear trajectory of growth and success
