DOS Update: HIS Campus Closed during All February
DOS Update: HIS Closed during All February
Dear HIS Families,
HIS has just received confirmation from the Zhejiang provincial government and Hangzhou Municipal Education Bureau (HEB) that all schools (state, private, and international) will not be able to open our campuses prior to the end of February. We agree this is the safest decision given the CNY travel effect on the outbreak. To be clear:
HIS Campus will be closed ALL February due to government advisory.
HIS has been preparing for this contingency and will continue to move forward with robust e-learning platforms and tools during the school closure period. I want to thank the students, faculty and parents for making this virtual learning a successful launch in its first week. You should know that, by last Monday, we had over 95% of our Chinese and expat faculty in Hangzhou ready to open at the earliest date. We are committed to re-opening the school campus and will be prepared to do so as soon as possible. However, with such an extension of school closure, we are accepting that some parents may choose to shelter in another country during this time period.
Over the next few weeks, we are sure there will be some movements of families. Please be advised that the HEB will be requesting travel data regarding the whereabouts of HIS student families. Please complete the survey data when requested and provide the school with an update if your plans change.
In times of uncertainty such as this, it is important that we continue to support one another, share information, and continue to strengthen our HIS community. Thank you for your continued understanding and partnership as we move forward.
