Dear Families,
PYP Grade 5 Exhibition
As we approach the much-anticipated Grade 5 opening ceremony and the exciting Exhibition, the atmosphere is filled with a mix of excitement and nerves. The grade 5 team and students can't wait to share this special event with families, friends, staff, and students across the school.
As a mentor, it has been so enjoyable to spend time each week getting to know my group, and I have learned so much, too, about their chosen area of inquiry. I joined them as they interviewed an expert in the field and had a wonderful day sharing with them and their parents what the future may hold for robots at the Robotics Exhibition Park.
Like every group, they are busy planning how to engage their audience with the aesthetics and resources they will use. The day of the poster has been replaced with multi-modal texts, hands-on activities and materials that will require much greater audience participation.
The High Seas
The countdown for our wonderful theatre musical production, The High Seas, with two performances next Friday, 17 May, at either 1.30 pm -2.30 pm or 5.30 pm - 6.30 pm, is drawing closer. Next Thursday will be the full-dress rehearsal with our younger classes being the audience.
Please check below to ensure you know which time your child’s class will be performing.
The 1st performance at 1:30 pm will be led by: 3A, 3C, 4A, 4C, 5B, 5C
The 2nd performance at 5:30 pm will be led by:3B, 3D, 4B, 4D, 5A, 5D
Those students at 5.30 pm will remain at school, attend CCAs or other activities as usual if they have them, eat dinner in the cafeteria, and then be ready to go on stage at 5.30 pm. Staff will be supervising them after school.
This will surely be a wonderful highlight of the school year, and we thank Ms. Farina and her team for the enormous work they have already undertaken.
NWEA Grade 2-5
Our NWEA testing period will commence Monday, 27 May to Tuesday, June 4. Make-ups, June 5-12.
Please share the link below with your child and undertake some of the practice tests. https://warmup.nwea.org/index.html
I will be sending further tips home over the coming weeks.
Weather
Slowly, days are warming, and temperatures in the late 20s C are expected next week. Please ensure your child's clothing, jackets, and water bottles are clearly labeled so they can be returned.
Please have your child wear a hat(the bucket hats from the Uniform shop are ideal) for sun protection.
Have a great week, and remember that CCAs will continue with the Exhibition and The High Seas productions this Friday and next.
Warm regards,
Lynn
