Saving and Backing Up Work

• You have been working on a document for 45 minutes and then the spinning pinwheel appears and won't stop and you didn't save.
• You opened a document from your email, edited it in Word and saved it.  When you came back to the computer later on, the document was gone.
• You saved the file at work, went home and couldn't access it

This session is about how to not lose your hard work and gain peace of mind.  Learn how to set software to auto-save, backup in multiple ways from paper to cloud, and how to organize your life.  You owe it to yourself to attend this session, and share with your team.

Description: 

In this session we will examine working with pictures, by placing them anywhere on a page and cropping to shape.  Within Word, learn how to translate anything and look up words in the dictionary and synonyms.  Walk through making certificates with mail merge.  Examine advanced formatting using a table of contents, bibliography, format painter, section break to different size pages in the same documents.  Learn about headers, footers, margins, and spacing.

This session covers the basics of recording video from a laptop screen or physical environment, editing a video, adding captions, and sharing a completed video online.  This can all be done quite easily and from within a Macbook laptop.  If you are not confident in your abilities in this area, then this session is the perfect opportunity to learn these essential skills.

Description:

Trello is an online tool that allows teams of people to work together on projects.  It can also be used to organize tasks for oneself using the "mind like water" technique of David Allen in his book, "Getting Things Done."  Trello’s boards, lists, and cards enable you to organize and prioritize projects in a fun, flexible, and rewarding way.  If you want to learn how to organize projects with colleagues better, of if you are feeling overwhelmed with the variety of tasks you have to do, then this training could be of benefit. 

PowerPoint: Better Presentations

Description: 

What is the recipe for making a PowerPoint presentation?  First add text and create slides.  Next add pictures and photos.  Then add charts and graphics from other apps and make sure to format them for the presentation.  Only then should the slides be formatted and designed in Powerpoint.

Learn about the best practices for font sizes, when to use images, when to use transitions when designing PowerPoint presentations.  Rehearse timings, record narrations, and we can discuss about

Tynker - Creative Programming for Purpose

Tynker is a Javascript, block based programming language that allows users to upload their own sounds and pictures and turn them into games.  Tynker is used by any students in Grades 5-12 who have participated in a Programming ASA.  Tynker can be used to tell stories or create a game by students to show their learning in projects units.

Use Microsoft Excel to do what you want to do.  A walkthrough of how to input and manipulate data, transfer that data to Numbers, and create beautiful graphs will be demonstrated.
